What our guests have been saying about staying Dockside!

Authentic and Beautiful Wrangell Experience!
The Dockside is incredible. Located in the heart of one of Wrangell’s harbors, it’s the
most unique place I’ve ever rented. Chris has an amazing eye for detail and efficient
use of the space. It is fully furnished and exceeded all of our expectations. Chris is a
dependable, accommodating and friendly owner. After staying here, I am honestly
inspired to consider building and living in a “tiny house’ someday. I highly recommend
Dockside to anyone looking for an authentic Wrangell experience and a beautiful place
to stay.

Fantastic Charm in the Heart of Alaskan Southeast
IF you make your way to Wrangell, and you’re not afraid of climbing a ladder, you need
to check out Chris’ float house. The cozy comforts of home made you forget you were
floating, were it not for the sounds of the harbor outside your window. Kingfisher and
seagull squawks provide a great soundtrack for your morning coffee, locally {Seattle} roasted, of
course. Thanks Chris for a great stay.

Perfect Little Waterfront Floathouse
We spent 3 nights in this little float house in June/July 2017. We had found it on the
City of Wrangell website and immediately loved it. It was absolutely perfect for us.
Chris, the host, is super nice and very friendly. She picked us up from the ferry, showed
us around and gave us the bits and pieces about the float house as well as a few tips
for tours and excursions. We had a really great time. The float house is perfect for
two. Nice and clean bed and bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and even a sofa to
lounge. More waterfront is virtually impossible. An absolutely great place to stay if
you spent some time in Wrangell.

Best Host! Perfect Venue for our Trip!
Our trip was me and my 17 year old son during a high school graduation celebration.
The houseboat could not have been better! Everything on the boat was so efficient
and thought out…the shower was amazing! Chris was an amazing hostess, even
sending me a few items that were left there (and would not let me pay her back). You
do have to walk a bit but it allowed us to experience the wonderful town that is
Wrangell and get some exercise too. It was such a good trip, we feel so fortunate to
have stayed there.

Amazing Accommodations in Wrangell
Who needs a hotel when you can stay on this amazing charming and cozy float house
for two? Tucked away in a fishing harbor away from the main part of town you’ll relax
and enjoy the comforts of home. Your host, Chris will make you feel like family.

Fantastically Unique Rental in the Heart and Soul of Wrangell
Tiny houses are all the rage right now and this floating little gem is absolutely perfect.
It’s situated in the Reliance Harbor where most of the locals dock their boats. You
can’t beat morning coffee on the porch, waving to the fishermen as they head out for
the day. The large windows and well thought-out design make the 2 room house feel
much larger than it really is. I love when I find unique, adventurous treasures like
Dockside on my travels and can’t wait to come back.

We Love This Adventure
We love to have an adventure when we travel and this was a great one. We had some
concern about the ladder but after a few trips up and down, we were very comfortable
with the climb and we are 80 and 77. This tiny house had everything one could want
and we did not feel closed in. IT was walking distance to town and after we bought
groceries the stores owner delivered our groceries and us back to the house boat.
Where on earth can you get this kind of service? We enjoyed observed the tide change
- sometimes 8-10 feet but we could feel very little movement. If you want an
adventure try this little oasis.

Great Stay!
I’m so happy we found this in Wrangell. We prefer to stay in interesting/unique lodging
rather than motels or frilly b&bs and this fit the bill exactly. It was clean, very
comfortable, and hard everything we needed. The mattress and shower were both
very good. There is wifi. The people who owned boats on the dock were VERY freindly
and I don’t want to set up expectations by saying specifically what they shared but
they were very generous towards us. And it was so much fun to just watch the
activity in the bay - the fishing boats, the big yachts that visit, etc. I’d expect that we
might e worked up early by fisherman but we weren’t - it was pretty quiet overall.
Chris, the owner, gave us rides to and from the airport, oriented us toward town, and
was helpful in every way. We did excursions with Alaska Charters and Adventures - I
would highly recommend them = and the picked us up in their boat right at the dock
each morning. It was also nice to be able to cook - there aren’t that many restaurants
in town, and in particular, there are only one or two dinner options. Generally rather
than having Alaska Charters take us back to the home via boat, we went with them
back to the office, which is near both groceries, and then we’d shop for dinner and walk
back. It’s a 15 min walk, and it’s flat. If you want to take a cab it’s $8. We did take a
cab into town for dinner once - the one time we ate out - and it came right away so
that was convenient . Dockside is also very reasonably priced, especially given that
other things in AK tend to be expensive, and compared to lodging in tourist
destinations in the lower 48.

Six Stars if I Could!
Really cute place, great to be on the dock and chat with locals. 15 min walk into town,
everything you need in the efficient “tiny house”, but you have to climb a ladder to get
into the loft bedroom - we thought was fun, just have to know. Spacious and
comfortable. Builder/owner/operator Chris always available for questions or advice on
what to do - even picked us up at the ferry at 2am and brought us to the house and
gave us a run down on how things worked. Can’t imaging a better place, would
absolutely stay again and recommend to anyone. Special treat to wake to 6 bald
eagles of various ages in a nearby tree, more entertainment throughout stay. Great
communication with Chris prior to trip, too.

Such a Unique and Comfortable Stay
This is a small float house at the dock in Wrangell with everything you need for a
comfortable and economical stay. The full kitchen and bather are sweet. It is clean,
light and artfully furnished.

Can’t Get Much More “Waterfront” Than This
What a charming little place in Wrangell! The float house is surprisingly spacious, full of
light and surrounded by fun and interesting boat activity. Yet, it’s peaceful at night.
The pictures don’t do justice to how cute the place is. Chris was helpful and friendly…
really went above and beyond for us. Now, you have to be sure you are comfortable
climbing into a loft bedroom, and you don’t want to invite 10 of your beer-drinking
friends aboard (it’d be crowded), but if you’d enjoy something different and a bit more
adventurous than a night in a standard motel room, this would be a treat. Easy walking
distance to town, too. We combined this with a Prince of Wales trip; about the new
Rainforest Island Ferry. It has been a perfect little trip.

Absolutely Loved It
Planning our two-week visit to Alaska, we were unsure about giving up four nights to
visit Wrangell, but staying at the float house was one of the best decisions we‘ve ever
made. Our stay was amazing, thanks to the peacefulness and beauty of this location.
It was the perfect place to unwind. The design of the float house makes it feel
spacious and focuses on the gorgeous views of the harbor. No matter where you sit,
lie or stand you can enjoy seaviews - it’s amazing. You see bald eagles flying by and
wake up to their voices in the morning - if you don’t want to be woken up just close
the windows they are absolutely soundproof. The interior is carefully designed with
amazing details. It is super comfortable and has a fully stocked kitchen. Chris
welcomed us at the ferry, brought us to the float house and ensured we had everything
we needed (and more). The bed is sooooooo comfortable and it’s an absolutely
spotless place. We loved our time in the float house. Our stay had just a single bad
point - we had to leave too soon.
